With only having a brief outline when first writing my synopsis I realised, afterwards, that I could easily have a lot more ideas flying about and so, I may make some minor changes to the synopsis as time goes on, however, keeping it posted on a regular basis will be purely to keep myself updated as well as it being well organised.
So, at this moment in time, my synopsis has changed to the following.
Film Studies
“This is Jordan .”
Synopsis
Genre: Coming of Age/ "Gross-Out" Comedy
Setting: Skate Park , Jordan ’s bedroom, Streets.
Characters: Jordan
Kate
Jordan only really has one good friend in his life, that is, the beautiful Kate. However, he hides his true feelings for her, in fear that she'll turn him down and/or affect the relationship he already has with her, causing it to go downhill.
When bumping into a local signed skater at skate park one day, Jordan ’s life is lifted when he is offered a demo by big skate company ‘Tereo’. Little does he know, this would affect his life in more ways than one. Once being offered this life-changing opportunity, Jordan doesn’t think twice and leaves everything behind without realising the effect this would have on Kate as well as how demanding the life ahead of him will be.
Weeks into being signed, Jordan realises how much of a big mistake he made by choosing the skate company over everything else. He soon returns home, leaving the company, realising his life was better off as it already was and that all he needed to do was stay positive. He and Kate exchange the truth about their feelings for each other, however, choose to act against it, fearing that it will greatly affect their relationship more than his decisions already have. Ultimately, at the end of the film Jordan is killed in a drastic way and the story is finished with a tasty 'To be continued..'.
My decision of killing Jordan off originally sparked up as a joke, though, once realising it would be such an unsuspected thing, it could be classed as an inverted expectation and therefore, creating comedic effect. The 'To be continued..' is there again, for comedic effect. Usually at the end of films or short acts, the typical TBC ending leaves the audience wondering what's going to happen next, similar to my film for example, the main character could have a near death experience which would leave the audience wondering if they're going to be alive in the next episode or film. By choosing to do this at the end of my film, it will be clear that the main character is already dead, but by saying TBC, it will be raising the debate as to whether he actually is or not, when there's clearly no two ways about it.
